Small Engine Mechanic

Our Shop Mechanics are an essential part of our busy landscaping construction and maintenance business at SeeMoreGreen. We are located about a 7-minute drive south of Saskatoon, so reliable transportation is a requirement of the position. Shop Mechanics are responsible for the repair, maintenance, overhaul, and service of various types of small engine equipment, heavy equipment, and vehicles.


Responsibilities :

  • Adjust, overhaul, repair, and reassemble engines, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, differentials, brakes, drive shafts, axels, and other assemblies

  • Read and interpret owner, operator, and manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications to complete job tasks

  • Test, diagnose, and repair equipment such as gas- and diesel-powered automobiles, tractors, dump trucks, excavators, heavy trucks, and other heavy construction equipment

  • Test, diagnose, and repair small engine equipment such as snow blowers, lawn and garden, and small construction equipment

  • Complete all repairs to a high standard of safety and quality

  • Schedule and conduct regular preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on any/all company equipment

  • Observe and monitor objects to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards

  • Service equipment and working tools

  • Liaise with suppliers to order any required parts and maintain inventory

  • Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in the shop and equipment areas

  • Complete maintenance reports, work orders, and any other required paperwork (daily)

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times

  • Comply with all company policies and regulations

  • Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations

  • Assist with employee training on daily inspections, care, and proper use of vehicles and equipment


Requirements

  • Valid Class 3/5 Driver’s License (G endorsement, Class 3, or 1A are considered an asset)

  • Reliable transportation to and from work

  • Obtain all necessary certifications required by the company

  • Heavy-Duty Equipment, Small Engine, Automotive Mechanic, Truck and Transport Trade Certification

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in repair/maintenance of related machinery

  • Completion of assigned Greenius online training prior to commencing work or accessing any jobsites

  • Ensuring safe and efficient practices are being utilized when operating tools, equipment, and vehicles

  • Smartphone skills an asset for job reporting (personal smartphone with data plan must be used throughout the day for communication, payroll, and reporting)

  • Experience with maintenance welding is an asset


Work Conditions

  • Willing to travel, if needed, to complete on-site maintenance and repairs

  • Various locations including our Mechanics Shop and both residential and commercial landscape maintenance and construction sites

  • Working near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis

  • Working outdoors, if needed, in various conditions including cold, heat and humidity, rain, dust, and noise

  • Working flexible hours including occasional weekend work, stat holidays, and out-of-town work where required


Job Types:

  • Full-time

  • Permanent


Pay:

  • $20.00-$30.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift

  • 12 hour shift

  • Monday to Friday

  • On call

  • Weekends as needed

  • Small Engine Mechanic: 1 year (required)
